Coding Club
At our after-school coding club, we aim to develop the tech leaders of tomorrow! We aim to inspire and excite children about Computer Science and help them to code in a range of different ways. Digital technology is a big part of many children’s lives, as they are surrounded by smartphones, video games, websites, and even robots. What drives this technology are software or computer programs that are created by coding. Like learning about biology and chemistry, it is important for kids to understand the building blocks of an integral part of their life. They need to realise that what happens when they use technology is not magic, and they themselves can create programs that can be useful.
What are the benefits?
- Improved critical thinking
- Improved creativity
- Improved maths skills
- Increased confidence
- Improved logical thinking
- Improved structural thinking
- Increased persistence and resilience
- Improved algorithmic thinking
- Improved writing skills and storytelling
- Practice of core soft skills
Homework Club
We have always found homework to be a major problem for children and one for which parents find it difficult to provide a solution. There are a number of reasons for this. For many families, there is simply not enough time during the week to deal with their child’s increasing volume of homework. Children can then become anxious about meeting the deadline for completing their school homework.
At Learn to Achieve, we allow children to bring along any Maths, English or Science homework. Tutors are available to work through any difficulties that the child may be experiencing. Children are offered opportunities to work within a more structured learning environment, free from distraction and where they feel that they are given the appropriate support and guidance.
Homework Club is designed to encourage a healthy mindset around homework. We provide pupils with a space to:
- Receive personalised homework support.
- Build healthy and trusting relationships with others.
- Set goals.
- Learn effective study tips.
- Develop good work habits.
- Develop positive attitudes towards learning.
- Develop independent learning skills.
Reading Club
Reading for pleasure is more important for children’s cognitive development than their parents’ level of education and is a more powerful factor in life achievement than socio-economic background.
The Learn to Achieve Education Reading Club helps children, in small groups, build a lifelong reading habit. Everything changes when we read.
